Bryant Park
If the pigeons could only tell us why
the homeless child sits and cries
If the pigeons could only say to me
the reasons for insanity
We could make the world a better place
We could change the homeless human race
If we only knew what only the pigeons know
Couples old, couples young
Seats of grass for everyone
The homeless wonder where’s their next meal
The investors drink and make a deal
Side by side in a city never sleeping
Night by night in a city ever weeping
If we only knew what only the pigeons know
How is it that we get along
In a class society where nothing’s wrong?
They pass each other every day
“Can you spare some change?” “Hell no. Go away!”
Yet both lay down at night to sleep
If we had the answers, how would life be
If we only knew what only the pigeons know
Only the pigeons seem to know
